Annyeonghaseyo, and welcome to All About Kor.
I’m Jimmy, a Korean who was born and raised in Korea and still lives here. For years my work has involved welcoming visitors from overseas: taking them to lunch, showing them around Seoul, and answering the same questions again and again. Which app should I use instead of Google Maps? How do I order at this restaurant? Where do Koreans actually eat?
This site is my answer to those questions.
What you’ll find here
- Hidden Korean restaurants — local places Koreans love on Naver Map that barely show up on Google Maps.
- Travel essentials — transport, payment, apps, SIM cards and the small things that make a trip to Korea easier.
- Korean food and culture — what to eat, how to order, and the etiquette nobody tells you about.
- Living in Korea — everyday tips from someone who lives here.
How I write
Restaurant posts on this site come in two kinds, and every post tells you which one it is:
- Visited by Jimmy — places I have been to myself, with my own photos and honest opinion.
- Local Picks — places I have not visited yet, carefully curated from what Koreans say about them in Korean: Naver Map ratings, local reviews and menus, translated and summarized for you.
Prices, opening hours and rules in Korea change often, so each guide shows when it was last checked. If you spot something out of date, please let me know through the Contact page.
I hope this site helps you eat better, travel easier and enjoy Korea the way locals do.
